CCHS Counseling

...in pursuit of academic, career and personal success!

Meet Mrs. Jones

Thank you for visiting my page on the CCHS Counseling website!

Honored and Privileged – It is a great honor and a privilege to be this year’s freshmen and junior counselor.  Now entering my second full year of counseling, I am still reminded every day of the excitement and joy involved in helping students achieve academic, career and personal/social success.  Last year was so rewarding.  I especially enjoyed the classroom discussions with sophomores during guidance lessons and helping seniors with their college and career plans.

About My Education and Training – I am a 1998 graduate of Glenville State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science and a 2007 graduate of Marshall University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling, School Counseling emphasis.  Further, I am a Certified School Counselor through the West Virginia Department of Education.  I also received training specific to my work at CCHS from Mr. Wayne, who is in my opinion, the greatest school counseling mentor in the state of WV!  He sincerely loved his work as a counselor and a teacher, and that showed through in every lesson he taught me.  I sincerely appreciate everything he taught me, and I am still trying to master many of his counseling techniques and organizational skills.

My Goals for This Year– This year it is my goal to have at least one meaningful contact with each student in grades 9 and 11 that will promote academic, career or personal/social success.  I hope to reach most of you through monthly classroom guidance sessions and some of you through individual counseling.  Specifically, I am hoping to help you make the connection between ACT Explore, ACT Plan and the ACT, and how it ultimately relates to Promise Scholarship eligibility.  Again this year, I will be focusing on attendance and grade point average, and trying to help students remove any barriers that prevent them from attending school regularly and earning good grades.

Thank you again for visiting my page.  I look forward to working you in the days ahead.  Best wishes for a successful school year!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to you.
