Attention Seniors and Juniors—

Beginning tomorrow and everyday the rest of this week, you are invited to sign up to participate in College Day which is a day for all students who plan to attend college after high school to visit with representatives of various colleges and universities.

This year’s college day is schedules for October 6 and is to be held at the Charleston Civic Center.

In order to be eligible as a senior you must have a 2.0 GPA and no discipline record.

In order for juniors to be eligible a 3.0 GPA is required and no discipline record.

The deadline to sign up is Friday September 25, 2009. The sign up sheet may be found on the long table in the counseling department.

Attention Juniors –

The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th.  Twenty students may take the test.  A sign up sheet will be placed on the counter outside of Mrs. Jones’ office.  The cost of the test is $13.  Payment is due by Monday, October 12th.  The first twenty students who sign up will be considered first in taking the test.  If any of those students do not pay or show up on test day, the remaining students will be considered in the order according to the sign-up sheet.  A limited number of fee waivers are available.  Please see Mrs. Jones for additional information.  Remember, this is not a college admission test.  It is a practice test for the SAT.

It is time to get those college applications flying! Please choose at least 3 schools that you are interested in and apply now. You may do this online or via paper applications. The counseling department has some paper applications. Visit soon!
 
Reminder that ACT is given at Clay County High School October 24, 2009. The deadline to register is September 18, 2009.
 
The first scholarship notification of the shcool year was given out in English and civics classes on September 4, 2009. Be sure to apply for the "OH The Places You'll Go" scholarship which is worth $5,000.
 
Seniors are invited to participate in College Day on October 6, 2009. Buses will transport students to the Charleston Civic Center for the day to meet with representatives of schools from around the state of West Virginia and surrounding states. Seniors must have a 3.0 GPA, no discipline record and have taken the ACT or plan to take it this year.

Mrs. Jones would like to remind all juniors and seniors that September 18th is the regular registration deadline for the ACT that will be given on October 24th.  Students are encouraged to register online or pick up a packet in the Counseling Department.  Be sure to write your on the notepad beside the packets and write our school code on your packet.
